2026 General Session Week 1 with Rep. Thompson
Hello District 3, and welcome back to the Utah Legislative Session!

It’s great to be on the Hill working with my colleagues to improve the great state of Utah, and especially Cache Valley!

As we head into the 2026 Session, I remain fully committed to the values of our district that you voted me to represent: affordability, public safety, local control, and a great education for our kids. These values drive every decision I make at the Capitol.
Week 1 Update
Committees and Bills
During the session, I’ll be sharing regular updates like these to keep you informed about the work happening on the Hill. This year, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on several key committees where I can directly address critical issues, from government transparency and responsible budgeting to supporting our students and teachers:
  • Federalism Commission
  • House Education Committee
  • House Judiciary Committee
  • Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee
In addition to my committee assignments, I will be keeping you posted on the legislation I am sponsoring. Here are a few of the bills currently on my docket:
  • H.B. 190    Child Care Business Tax Credit
  • H.B. 265    Non-nicotine Inhalation Product Amendments
  • S.B. 58      Public School Attendance Amendments
Thank you to Jason Williams and "KVNU For The People" for having me on to talk about Legacy Forward and my childcare legislation this session. It's an important issue for Cache Valley and for Utah as a whole. Click here to listen to the segment.
Legacy Forward Foundation

In case you missed the news last week, I officially launched the Legacy Forward Foundation.

I founded this organization to serve as a facilitator and funding source for schools dedicated to teaching essential leadership principles. This mission is deeply personal: throughout my life, leaders showed up for me exactly when I needed them most. I want to pay that forward, ensuring today's students receive the same life-changing guidance that shaped my youth. Simply put, without the mentors who invested in me, I would not be where I am today.

Make sure to follow me on FacebookInstagram, and X for updates during the week.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me through my legislative page with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. I want to hear from you!

Thank you,

Jason Thompson
Representative, House District 3
